Abortion

Alright, I'm gonna tackle the controversy of Abortion.

Abortion is defined as: the intentional termination of pregnancy by killing and expelling an embryo or a fetus. Also, any of various procedures that result in such termination and removal. Also called induced abortion.

Why is abortion wrong? Simple.

Reason 1: Abortion is wrong on the following premise. I shall set it up in a syllogistic manner.

1) Murder is defined as: a premeditated, intentional killing of a human.
2) Abortion is the killing/expelling of a fetus or embryo.
3) A human/person is an organism with the genetic code that makes up the molecular structure of a human.
3) A fetus and embryo carry the exact genetic code of anyone that is human and born.
4) Therefore, abortion, which kills an organism with a human genetic code is murder.

Reason 2: Abortion is wrong on a morally normative basis.

Morality is defined as: conforming to a normative standard of what is right and what is wrong. Killing is an inherently immoral action. No matter what stage you are in life, it can never be morally permissible to kill another human. (Extend my definition of human from above reason). It can be argued that the government should not base it's policies off of morality. I personally, agree. However abortion is different. The government must act out of justice. Justice can be seen as a sub-sector of a greater morality. Justice demands that each receive their given warranted due. No one in their right mind can truly claim that an innocent is due a gruesome death. Therefore, by linking justice to morality, it is clear that abortion violates morally normative standards that should be held by society.
